iOS 7 started with a want to take an experience people love and make it better. To make it even simpler, more useful, and more enjoyable but yet feel instantly familiar. The design of iOS 7 is pretty because its all of those things. And its the begin of a new chapter for iOS.
The OS from Apple has completely redesigned flat icons. The iOS 7 has a new slide-up control panel, new fonts, new icons and new translucent bars. iOS 7 boasts of a new card multitasking feature. It has a 3D interface. "When you tilt the phone, the perspective changes," claims Apple.
The OS also has a gesture back button for apps. Apple has introduced the multitasking feature for all apps. It also features a control center. "Your most used apps profit priority upon background cycles," claims Apple.
Other new features in iOS 7 include:
Automatic app updates
A swipe-up Control Center feature which brings together frequently used functions such as turning on wi-fi or bluetooth, adjusting the volume, and using the iPhone as a torch
The ability to carry out searches via Microsoft's Bing service within the voice-controlled Siri app, which also features new voices
An anti-theft measure which requires a user to enter an associated ID and password before being able to deactivate a device's Find My iPhone feature
Redesigned fonts to create the appearance of sharper text
Additional new iOS 7 features include:
a new Find My iPhone Activation Lock feature that requires your Apple ID and password before you can turn off Find My iPhone, erase data or re-activate a device after its been remotely erased;
Night Mode in Maps that responds to ambient light when you use it in the dark;
FaceTime audio for high quality calls over a data network;
Notification sync, so when you dismiss a notification on one device it is dismissed upon all of your devices;
Phone, FaceTime and Messages blocking to prevent specific people from being able to contact you;
Tencent Weibo retain for users in China, a Chinese-English bilingual dictionary, and improved Chinese input including handwriting recognition for multiple Chinese characters;
the ability for businesses to more efficiently deploy and manage iPhones and iPads; and
enhanced in-car integration, bringing an Apple designed experience into the car for the first time.
iOS 7 release date
If you're waiting to profit your hands upon the new iOS 7, it's not good news if you're not a developer: the final release will be available 'in the Fall'.
It's now available in beta for iPhone developers as of today, and will be coming to the iPad in the 'coming weeks'.
